Sevrine Baptiste

Sevrine Baptiste was a 10 year old girl, born and raised in the Lower Ninth Ward. She was an observer of life, believing that words are wasted by the unwise. A girl whose maturity made her awkward, Sevrine had few friends growing up. She was a daddy's girl, spending much of her time with Big Moe, learning to play the trumpet, mimicking him in every way. Sevrine was brave and took pride in her family traditions and values. Although she was training to be an Olympic swimmer, she drowned trying to save a family trumpet from the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina.
